Summary: This book talks about all the things you may want to consider about your background and your interests if you want to be the President of the United States some day and explains it in relation to information about all the Presidents. It does this in a light hearted, joking kind of way. It talks about past presidents and their families, their interests such as sports, musical talents, pet dogs, physical characteristics like height and weight and other fun facts. It talks about past jobs of presidents, their ages, the clothes they wear, food they eat and many others. Each of these is related as something the reader should take into consideration if they want to be the President of the United States some day. It ends by talking about the Presidential Oath that all of the presidents say when they are sworn in and how each of them tried to stick to it. The author states that some presidents succeeded in upholding the oath and that others didn't and talks about how our best presidents have given of themselves and put the people of our nation before themselves.
Who would you recommend this book to? I would recommend this book to history lovers! Kids who seem to have an interest in historical facts and bits of information would really like this book! However, I liked the book a lot so I would probably actually recommend it to anyone!
Potential problems or conflicts: Because the book was written in the year 2000, it is outdated. The book even mentions that "No person of color has been president." The parents would need to be ready to add bits of information to update the book a little.
My reaction: I actually really liked this book a lot. The information that the author put in it is really fun to learn. Most of it is just random facts but they are really funny or interesting facts. I loved this book and highly recommend it! It's probably my favorite nonfiction/informational book I've read so far!
